Map Description

Glacier National Park - The Crown of the Continent - has brought countless people closer to nature and teaches us a love of wild places. I grew up a short drive from this park and spent much of my youth scrambling up remote ridgelines to see the view from the top of the glacially carved peaks.

It is hard to make a map that shows the true character of this iconic park. Early USGS cartographers did a good job; this map is a composite of 6 different 15 minute x 15 minute USGS maps that were published between 1901 and 1943. There is some variation in map color and detail between the different sheets used to make the composite but overall the end result is a modernized version of glacier national park meant to be printed in large format.

Please Note: Reading the text on the map can sometimes be difficult, primarily because of the historic map's small font size and age. In areas where relief shading obscure text, it can become illegible. To enhance readability, we recommend ordering a larger map size, although the text may still be obscured in darker areas.

Map Features

This museum-quality map of Glacier National Park combines the rich history of early 20th-century USGS topographic surveys with modern elevation data and advanced hillshading techniques. Featuring a composite of 30-minute quads published between 1900 and 1940, it preserves the original cartographic details while adding striking relief that brings the park’s rugged terrain to life. A UTM and Lat-Long grid were added for additional design and information. Designed for both history enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers, this unique piece captures Glacier’s iconic peaks, valleys, and lakes with exceptional clarity. Printed on premium archival materials and available in high-quality frames. Plus, enjoy free shipping for a hassle-free experience.
