1951, Bridger Mountains and Sedan, MT | 15'x15' Shaded Historic USGS Map

The Bridger Range in southwest Montana is locally renowned and famous for the coldsmoke powder that sometimes graces the range for the enjoyment of skiers and riders. Nowadays, most folks ride at Bridger Bowl - the local ski area; at the time of this map's original publication, Bridger Bowl didn't yet exist. The first rope tow was installed in 1951 but is not shown on this map. In 1955, Bridger got it's first lift!

We used recent digital elevation data combined with modern rendering techniques to enhance this hand selected, historic USGS map. Even though the map is two dimensional, the techniques applied make it come to life from the use of shading/lighting. 

Please Note: Reading the text on the map can sometimes be difficult depending on the size that is purchased, primarily because of the historic map's small font size, age and the condition of the map when it was scanned into digital format. In areas where relief shading obscure text, it can become illegible. To enhance readability, we recommend ordering a larger map size or a map that covers a smaller area, although the text may still be obscured in darker areas.
