1994 Jewel Basin, MT | 7.5"x7.5" Shaded Historic USGS Map Composite

The Jewel Basin, tucked away in the Flathead National Forest, is a local favorite for outdoor fun. Set up as a hiking area back in 1970, it covers over 15,000 acres and offers more than 35 miles of trails. You’ll find rugged peaks, clear alpine lakes, and green meadows that showcase some of the best views around. It's been a go-to spot for wildlife and recreation for years, drawing hikers, campers, and nature lovers who appreciate its peaceful beauty and untouched wilderness.

This map is a composite of 4 different 7.5" USGS maps, made to show the entire Jewel Basin area. 

We used recent digital elevation data combined with modern rendering techniques to enhance this hand selected, vintage USGS map. Even though the map is 2 dimensional, the techniques applied make it appear to pop off the page.

Please Note: Reading the text on the map can sometimes be difficult, primarily because of the historic map's small font size and age. In areas where relief shading obscure text, it can become illegible. To enhance readability, we recommend ordering a larger map size, although the text may still be obscured in darker areas.
