The granite formations, some part of the 2.5 billion Green Creek Complex, have weathered into a stunning array of spires and domes, providing a unique and challenging landscape for climbers.

Climbing History: "Modern" Rock climbing in the City of Rocks began in the 1960s, marked by the pioneering efforts of climbers like Royal Robbins and Layton Kor. These early days saw the establishment of traditional routes, laying the foundation for what would become a climbing destination. Since then, the climbing community has continued to contribute, creating a diverse collection of over 1,000 routes.

The granite formations offer solid holds and unique features, accessible to climbers of most levels. The area provides a mix of climbing experiences, from crack climbing to face climbing and slab climbing, ensuring a well-rounded adventure.
